What started as a need for a single client, has turned a small idea into a money making machine for small businesses of any type and size, anywhere.
“It’s funny how the coolest ideas just come to you,” says Anthony Angell, founder of the hip consulting and creative company, Salon Geeks, which helps salons and spas use technology, marketing and management to better their business. “We were developing a web solution for one of our core clients so that her customers could check loyalty point balances and gift card activity online, when we realised that what we were building would work in almost any small business, not just salons.”
It was then that his partner Tiago Soromenho, also recognising the potential for what they were building, spun off the Loyalty and Gift Card program from Salon Geeks, and aptly named it “RewardScan”.
As more salons and spas lined up to use and test the application in development, sure enough, businesses from other industries inquired how they could use RewardScan as well. A couple weeks lengthened to a couple months as more features were added, and the program was made to apply to virtually any kind of small business. Even if they already have a software solution or point of sale program in place.
Tiago and Anthony have become excited by the many creative ways that people are using RewardScan. “We even have a customer who is using a Points Program for their kid’s allowance,” Tiago laughed, clearly delighted by the lateral thinking exhibited by their clients. “I love that it’s almost taking a life of its own.”
Still in it’s infancy, RewardScan has become one of the Web 2.0-style online applications that are revolutionising and blurring the distinction between computers and network. From coffee shops to vintage clothing stores, and every type of business in between, RewardScan has begun to pop up everywhere. Several companies even have asked for custom-branded versions of RewardScan to share with their particular audience.
“There is such a need, out there in the small business community, for this kind of accessible, easy to use, and affordable loyalty and gift card program,” Tiago Soromenho adds more seriously. “So we decided on a price-point that any small business can afford.” And indeed, at $20/month per campaign, it’s hard to see how any small business couldn’t afford it. So convinced in the power of this solution, Tiago and Anthony have made great efforts to make it available to almost any business: there’s no obligation when signing up for a RewardScan account, and no credit card is neede, ever.
RewardScan’s growth has been truly organic, fueled by enthusiastic clients and of course, just plain word of mouth. RewardScan’s hip style and fresh approach to technology has not only salon owners, but now small business owners everywhere, talking about retention and customer loyalty campaigns.
“RewardScan is perfect for any business that recognises the importance of attracting and keeping loyal clients and customers. Everyone uses it, including salons and spas, yoga studios, ice-cream parlors, night clubs, java shacks, and even dog groomers!”, concludes Anthony Angell. “Basically, if you have clients, and want to boost loyalty and sales, RewardScan can work for you.”
