Despite the fact that there are numerous diamond buying resources available online, most diamond consumers remain confused about the technicalities of buying loose diamonds, especially when it comes to more controversial topics such as diamond cut and certification.
Responding to the growing need for unbiased and Australian focused diamond information, Jogia Diamonds International has developed The Australian Diamond Wiki (http://www.australiandiamondexchange.com). Unlike other sites, The Australian Diamond Wiki is editable by anyone, from the general public to the industry at large.
Nikhil Jogia, co-developer of The Australian Diamond Wiki states "Most diamond education resources available online are either from overseas, created by commercial grading labs or merchants, or, buried in forums. On the other hand, The Australian Diamond Wiki allows anyone to create or edit information, allowing for concise, unbiased information to be presented to consumers."
The Australian Diamond Wiki features four categories: Gemmology, Consumer Information, Organisations and Miscellaneous. Whilst there are few entries at present, it is expected that due to the fact anyone can add or edit content, the site will grow rapidly in the coming months.
Also, unlike other wiki sites, The Australian Diamond Wiki aims to produce well written, properly referenced and easy to read content. As Mr Jogia added, "We don't want the site to become a destination for childish web trolls with a point to prove. Entries must conform to strict editorial guidelines and state facts, not opinions."
