Heather Fish knows what she wants from a swimsuit: function, flair, and quality. “I’m an avid surfer-girl and mother of three wild, wonderful boys,” says Pearl Swimwear founder and designer Heather Fish. “I felt there was a need for a high-end fashionable swimsuit that couldn’t easily be yanked off by my one year old, or misconstrued by my twelve year old’s surfer friends.”
To ensure the integrity of her product, Fish utilized the 2006 swim season to test an array of different designs and fabrics, selling 300 pieces exclusively at private trunk shows. Gaining perspective from the fashionista mothers who attended her shows, Pearl Swimwear’s signature style and target customer were realized. Each vintage inspired one piece is beautifully embroidered with Pearl’s eye-catching starfish logo. The retro-contemporary suits come in a range of glamorous colors and styles. Priced at $75US-$140US wholesale and $150US-$280US retail, each swimsuit comes with a delicate silver starfish necklace to complete the “Pearl Girl” look.
In May 2006, The Recording Academy® caught wind of Pearl Swimwear and asked Fish to contribute to their celebrity gift bags for a June event. Pleased with Pearl Swimwear and the feedback received, the GRAMMY Foundation® asked Fish to contribute again in July for A Starry Night, honoring Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Through the reputable VIP and celebrity gift bag company, Jewels and Pinstripes, Fish contributed thirty elegantly designed Pearl Swimwear packages, including a signature dress cover up and gift certificate for a custom swimsuit.
