If anyone has a recipe that tastes delicious and expresses their family heritage or special memory, now is the time for them to try turning that treasured dish into cash. The Chefs.com Treasured Recipes Contest gives the perfect avenue to share special recipe remembrances and possibly win our $10,000 grand prize.

This recipe contest is unique, because a well-crafted story about the significance of each recipe is as important as the recipe itself in determining winners. When submitting a recipe, be sure to submit a story about the special meaning associated with it.

  •     Is it the naan bread recipe that’s been passed down through your family for generations? Share your memories.
  •     Describe what makes your recipe truly authentic.
  •     How has your family brought different traditions together for a new expression in this special dish?

“We expect to receive recipes from home cooks who are from all walks of life, from all ethnicities,” said Ken Rubin, the Editor-in-Chief of Chefs.com. “We are eager to hear the stories that are associated with these recipes, because together tell the history of our nation.”

Cash, Prizes and Trips

The Chefs.com Treasured Recipes Contest will award more than $20,000 in cash, prizes and trips.

Just being selected for the contest finals makes each of the competitors a winner, because all 5 finalists win a set of Hamilton Beach eclectrics™ All-Metal Appliances, including a toaster, stand mixer, coffee maker, drink mixer, and blender (approximate retail value $500).

As the exciting conclusion, each finalist receives a trip to the cook-off event at the world-renowned California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, California. This will include airfare, a two-night stay, and meals. At the cook-off, the finalists will have the opportunity to prepare their treasured recipe for our panel of Chefs.com celebrity chefs who will choose the winner and recipient of the $10,000 grand prize.

How to Enter

You can enter online or get more information at http://treasuredrecipes.chefs.com. The contest is open to cooks ages 18 or older at the time of entry and be a legal resident of the 50 United States. The recipes will be judged for 1) the story as it relates to family, culture, and celebration, and 2) culinary appeal of the recipe.
