(PRWEB) August 18, 2006 -- In August 2004, Forestprints Design was officially brought into this world by Singaporean designer, Lynda Lye, with her need for more quirky, odd and colorful things with spunk and personality. Her web shoppe launched on 28 October that same year. Her one-woman business was coined so because she has, since a child, been inspired by the wonderful childhood fantasies of bizarre fairytale adventure stories set in magical forests, resplendent with quirky images and wonderful illustrations of talking monsters, animals and trees.
Although Forestprints Design has since grown and evolved, with a new shoppe name and label, littleoddforest, affectionately known as LOF by its loyal friends and fans, the essence of her brand remains the same. Along with her bursts of colorful images and delightful plush toys, Lynda's main aim was, among others, to change the way the world looked.
littleoddforest is currently a collection of silkscreen tops, quirky accessories, bags and stationeries for those who love and appreciate extraordinary, handmade creations. Conceived by Lynda, littleoddforest plans to change the way people think about life, and redefine simple joys of owning unique, and more importantly, handmade, designs.
"Too often, we find ourselves accepting what others force upon us -- ideas, trends, fashion -- that we forget to see past the ordinary and mundane. I want to spread cheer in people's lives," she enthused. "littleoddforest was a medium for me to express myself, by my own rules -- not anyone else's."
A BFA graduate from the arty-farty School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the United States where she spent 4 wonderful years, Lynda soon decided that a conventional career path was definitely not for her - and chose instead to bring her creations to life. Her passion is in pervasive creativity, and this unbridled passion of hers is infused throughout her line of handmade products. Not wanting to be tied down by mere labels or to be dictated by what degree she has, she wanted to fuse her love for all things design, be it the graphic arts, product design, packaging and fashion, with her unique and oftentimes kooky sense of style. She will lay her hands on everything if she could!
A staunch supporter of independent designers, her products are also produced with the same principle; they are available only in limited numbers, and many of them are one-of-a-kind creations, all handmade with lots of love. She feels that the world would be more beautiful, if everyone had something unique, or limited, at the very least. She loves using vintage and out-of-production fabrics, and loves playing with various combinations, even if it means using a different button to make that piece unique.
Lynda's collection of products are thematic ones, rolled out 4 times a year, oftentimes incorporating different creatures and plants for each theme. littleoddforest is not interested in becoming a fashion trend - it aims to be a lifestyle; one that is embraced by and becoming a favorite of many, especially handmade lovers and crafty connoisseurs from all over the world who appreciates a little dose of fun in their everyday life.
littleoddforest's design theme for 2006 and 2007 explores a wonderful world filled with unicorns, fairies, birds (including her signature Snotty Bird), and squirrels, all of which will also be featured on her new range of graphic tank tops and tees, and accessories. Lynda cites dreams of landscapes from "The Wizard of Oz" and "Alice in Wonderland" as the inspiration behind this theme. Her favorite motifs of mushrooms and trees are also a regular focal point of her collection. "The world needs love, not to mention cheerfulness, now more than ever," explains Lynda on her use of heart motifs, which are peppered liberally throughout her 06/07 collections, aptly named "Love".
