After more than 30 years, the largest collecion of quality Zapotec Indian rugs in the country is changing it's name from La Unica Cosa to Starr Interiors. Located two doors south of the historic Taos Inn on Paseo del Pueblo Norte and built around a charming courtyard, Starr Interiors in Taos, New Mexico, attracts individual buyers, designers and collectors with an outstanding collection of hand-carded, hand-spun and hand-dyed rugs, pillows and wall hangings. Ranging in size from 2x3' area rugs to major room-size rugs up to 12x15'. The six showrooms feature a range of designs with something for every decor.

Featured is the Line of the Spirit collection, which Starr Interiors owner, Susanna Starr, has been producing for fifteen years. This collection appears in major design magazines including Architectural Digest, Western Interiors and Hali Magazine. One issue of Architectual Digest featured these rugs in the Malibu home of famous musician, Sting. Line of the Spirit's unique method of combining design elements from diverse cultures such as nomadic tribal to innovative renderings of classic designs of the southwest give it a distinctive look. Known for their hallmark use of rich, vibrant colors, Line of the Spirit's artistic weavings add a special warmth to any decor.

Starr Interiors also features several rooms of the work of individual master weavers including Florentino Gutierrez. These weavings range in color and design from complex Saltillo inspired designs to the simplicity of open fields with various border designs. From undyed pieces of every size to large floor rugs, table runners to throw pillows in an array of colors and designs, each collection represents an individual weaver. Here, too, is the tapestry work of images of Taos artists, Jonathan Sobel and Jim Wagner and images of important pre-Columbian designs by master weavers.

When in Los Angeles, be sure to visit the newly opened Starr Gallery. www.starrgallery.com.
