Help Get Country Music Back; Los Angeles, California, Has Lost the Most Listened to Country Station, KZLA-FM

Help get country music back. Los Angeles, California, has lost the the most listened to Country Station, KZLA FM, as Emmis Communications changes the station format.

(PRWEB) August 18, 2006 -- KZLA Country listeners are up in arms over the drastic change made by Emmis Communications today right in the middle of the mid-day show.

Though a few country stations are left on the air in Southern California, KZLA was the most listened to country station in America based on listener count. They play such great talent as Phil Vassar, Garth Brooks, the very sexy Tim Mcgraw, and other greats like George Strait and George Jones.

Artists like Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Gretchen Wilson and Faith Hill will no longer have a format available to them to get their music heard in one of the most populated cities in the country.

Listeners have been writing into Emmis Communications with protests only to get back an automated reply. "It's not just the music that turned us on to KZLA Country, it was the talent. Otherwise, we could just listen to satellite," voiced one devoted KZLA listener.

Karen Oliver, another KZLA listener is actively protesting this move. "We are asking every Country Artist to help make a stand against this format change. We have lost country music in Los Angeles and as artist they know that means it will be ever harder to get their music heard." She continues with yet another suggestion, "I think the big names like Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Reba should band together and purchase a station out here and let's do this the right way."

KZLA country listeners are actively removing 93.9 off their radio dials and refuse to participate in things like upcoming concerts Emmis is still planning on holding. They vow not to go out quietly. "KZLA Country is family and you fight for family," states Nancy Brown.

Protests will be taking place Friday, August 18th at 10 am outside the KZLA studio at 2600 W. Olive Ave, in Burbank.
