Apex CoVantage Announces Formation of Global Newspaper Initiative Advisory Board
The Inaugural Advisory Board meeting to be held during IFLA Conference in Seoul.
Herndon, VA (PRWEB) August 20, 2006 -- Apex CoVantage, a leading global knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) company, announced today the creation of the Apex Advisory Board for their Global Newspaper Initiative. The purpose of the Advisory Board is to bring together recognized experts, luminaries and thought-leaders who share the aspirations of the Global Newspaper Initiative. The first advisory board meeting will convene on August 22, 2006, in Seoul, Korea during the IFLA World Library and Information Congress.
Apex’s Global Newspaper Initiative was formed to foster cultural understanding throughout the world through the digitization of historical newspapers. More than any other medium, newspapers are the purest written commentary of both world-impacting events to those of everyday life. With the burgeoning of digital technology, the stage is set to open unprecedented levels of access to newspapers from every corner of the world, covering every year in the modern age.
Apex’s Global Newspaper Initiative aspires to be a catalyst for the many countries whose cultures are the least understood and least able to invest in newspaper digitization initiatives. “We look forward with great excitement to where the path will lead,” says Dr. Shashikant Gupta, President of Apex CoVantage and organizer of the Apex Advisory Board. “I strongly believe that the world community will ultimately benefit from the deeper level of mutual understanding that will come from opening historic newspapers from every culture to anyone in the world with access to the Internet.”
Ed King, Head, British Library Newspaper Collections and member of the Advisory Board, stated, “It’s an honor to be part of such a timely initiative. I look forward to working with Apex and all the members of the Advisory Board.”
