U.S. & International Integrators Find Key to Automation Industry Global Community of Residential Automation Professionals Gather in San Diego
Networking leads to competitive edge and unforseen insight into the home control/residential automation industry.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 20, 2006 -- Around the globe innovative minds are tuning into the immense opportunity surrounding the residential automation industry. In August of 2006 there was a meeting of those international minds at the Residential Integrator School (RIS) in San Diego.
Networking thrives as industry professionals from across the continental U.S., Puerto Rico and even Ireland get their hands dirty in the Design & Installation course. Participants gain hands-on experience using a variety of mainstream products by manufacturers such as HAI, NuVo, Simply Automated & Leviton. “At RIS there is a real opportunity to network with other dealers in a non-competitive environment. These guys aren’t your neighbor, so everyone is willing to share installation and marketing secrets with each other,” explains Bob Grier, National Account Manager and Dealer Liaison for RIS.
RIS graduate Al Clarke of New Brunswick, Canada agrees with Grier’s assessment. “The atmosphere [at RIS] was super. Everybody seemed eager to participate while at the same time having some fun.” Clarke is now the owner of Advanced Home Networks in Saint John, and keeps in touch with several RIS graduates from across the U.S.
In both the United States and abroad, established dealers in the security, A/V, lighting, HVAC and electrical fields are motivated to expand into the lucrative residential automation and networking industry. Such professionals, who already understand technology and generic installation procedures, attend RIS to receive specific, up-to-date information on how to design, cost, propose, sell, and install residential automation and networking systems. “The whole idea is to learn specifics through hands-on training and leave inspired to put new skills and ideas to work,” Grier says.
Even established residential automation experts find value in the trip to sunny San Diego. Chris Purser, CEO of Autogy Inc. affirms “I attended five days of RIS in San Diego last year and it has changed everything about the way I do business. In the two months since RIS, my business has nearly doubled its speed of growth."
The proverbial wave of the future keeps rolling in fast and as international integrators jump onboard there is only momentum to gain.
