Next Generation Owners of Boulder Cleaners Make Bold Move to Join the Green Cleaning Trend
Boulder Cleaners, one of the oldest and most respected Dry Clean and Laundry plants in Colorado, has taken the leap to using only Biodegradable and environmentally friendly products in all of their 6 locations.
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) August 22, 2006 – Boulder Cleaners, one of the oldest and most respected dry clean and laundry plants in Colorado, has taken the leap to using only biodegradable and environmentally friendly products in all of their six locations.
This is a bold move for the next generation owners – Susan, Bill and Mike Ellwood. Their grandfather started the business using products that were the best in the industry in 1923. And their father and uncle also used the same chemicals and processes.
At that time, chemicals that are considered safe were used. The chemical is called Perc. Their new equipment reduced the amount of Perc used, but that was not enough for the next generation owners.
Now in the United States, the use of Perc (PCE) in dry cleaning is regulated by most of the major environmental and occupational health statutes. Full implementation of Clean Air Act provisions, which designated PCE as a HAP, has the potential to create a significant shift in the garment care industry away from the use of PCE.
Boulder Cleaners has six Colorado locations and provides valet services for one of the finest hotels in Colorado. The owners grew up in Boulder and are passionate about preserving the wellbeing of the community.
“We made this decision, which was costly and difficult, to offer our customers the best quality services available. We also want to leave our next generation of Ellwood families a business that supports their community and a healthy future,” says Bill Ellwood.
