Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 22, 2006
Over the past thirty years, there has been a growing movement of Hispanos discovering the Jewish Heritage. These Hispanos have come to realize that they are descendants of Jews from Spain and Portugal that settled in the American Southwest and whom had to hide their Jewish identity due to the Spanish Inquisition. As this information has been revealed there has been a desire from these descendants of Hidden Jews to reconnect to their Jewish roots and to truly understand what it means to be Jewish. To facilitate this process, B’nai Sephardim of Colorado is hosting a symposium to help foster the return of Hispanos to their Jewish heritage. The symposium (Hidden Jewish Heritage: Exploring a Path to Return) will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at the Radisson Denver Southeast from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free and the Symposium is open to the public. From the historical, genealogical, and personal perspectives, this symposium will cover the gamut of issues of interest to those with Hidden Jewish ancestry.
The event is sponsored by B’nai Sephardim of Colorado. B'nai Sephardim of Colorado is committed to bringing together the descendants of Hidden Jews through education, community outreach, and advocacy.
