Wizdom Systems, Inc. announces today that company founder and CEO Dennis E. Wisnosky has been appointed Chief Technical Officer of the Department of Defense (DoD) Business Mission Area. (BMA). The newly created position reports to the office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Business Transformation (DUSD BT) within Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L).
Wizdom Systems, Inc. will soon officially announce the new leadership for Wizdom Systems and Wizdom Education, the company’s special education software division.

Wizdom Systems’ products include WizdomLive! (Wizdom’s online business management tool), its related product DoDAFLive! (for Department of Defense Architecture Framework), and DoDAF and BPR training and consulting. The company will continue to sell DoDAF Wizdom, which “DoD considers to be the decisive source within DoD and other Government organizations for managing Enterprise Architecture projects.” DoDAF Wizdom was written by the Wizdom team. Wizdom Education also continues to have great success with its just-launched product, called MyTransPlanner!, an online tool which helps parents and student s in special education plan for the future in high school and beyond.
As Chief Technical Officer of the Department of Defense Business Mission Area , Wisnosky is responsible for providing expert guidance and oversight in the design, development, and modification of the federated architectures supporting the Department’s Business Mission Area. The newly formed position includes how the
Business Mission Area will interoperate with the DoD Warfighting, Information Assurance and Enterprise Information Environment Mission Areas. “I am excited about this new phase of my career,” said Wisnosky, “and, especially about the opportunity to once again serve my Country.”
The office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Business Transformation includes the Business Transformation Agency with responsibility to transform business operations to achieve improved warfighter support while enabling financial accountability across the Department of Defense. Mr. Wisnosky’s role incorporates oversight of the DoD Business Enterprise and Service Oriented Architectures. He will ensure that the federated architectures of the Business Mission Area fully support the Department’s vision, mission, strategy and priorities for Business Transformation.
Dennis E. Wisnosky is known as a serial entrepreneur. He has started and managed 4 companies. His career has included executive positions in Government, research institutes and Fortune 500 companies. He has published over 200 papers and 7 books in the fields of Sensemaking, Business Process Engineering (BPR), Knowledge Management (KM), CAD/CAM, electronics, computer science, Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), Enterprise Architectures and Special Education. He is the originator of the “Funnel Visualization” of enterprise control networks, the “Rings of Knowledge” concept of KM, and the DoDAF Minimalist Methodology.
Recognition for his work includes the United States Air Force (USAF) Meritorious Civilian Service Award, the Hero of U.S. Manufacturing Award from Fortune Magazine for his pioneering work in factory automation, the San Fernando Valley Engineers Council International Engineer of the Year Award, testimony before the U.S. House and Senate on productivity and quality-of-work-life issues, KPMG Illinois High Tech Entrepreneur Award, California University’s Medallion of Distinction Lifetime Achievement Award, and Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Pittsburgh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Mr. Wisnosky holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Mathematics from California University of Pennsylvania, masters in Management Science from the University of Dayton, and masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
