Pharmaceutical Company Creates Gallery for Artists

Our "Journey Forward" art program strives to give artistic opportunities to local students and artists of all levels, providing a receptive environment to display their work and creative and inspirational motivation for both artists and audience. "Journey Forward" has successfully engendered a growing artistic environment and is now extending the invitation to a broader art community. We currently display a myriad of work, on loan from artists, throughout our 200,000 square foot facility. Additionally, for each artist participating in the program, we contribute a donation to various charities of the artist's choice.

PL Developments announces their Journey Forward Art Project as they move headquarters to a state of the art pharmaceutical facility in Westbury, NY. Inspired by a George Lois quote, “Creativity can solve almost any problem, the creative act, the defeat of habit by originality, overcomes everything,” PL Developments has taken this opportunity to open up minds in an unusual manner and successfully mesh this creative project with their pharmaceutical business. The Journey Forward Art Project is an initiative by PL Developments to outsource artwork for an internal art gallery, exhibit the work of a broad range of artists within the community and make donations on the artists’ behalf to the charity of their choice.

During Phase One of the project, PL Developments invited university and high school students to participate in the unique and innovative program. “Asking students and artists to enhance PL Developments environment with their art work, the program encourages the passion for individuality in the artists and in ourselves,” according to Linda Singer, VP of Creative Services. “Using our pharmaceuticals as their subject matter, the students have used their talents and imaginations for Journey Forward.” The photographs are exhibited throughout the facility.

During Phase Two of the project, PL Developments extended the invitation to a broader art community. Artists were encouraged to loan their work to PLD for exhibition in their facility, becoming part of an ever-changing collection of emerging contemporary artists.

In addition, PL Developments offered to donate money to any charity of the artists’ choice within their Charity Donation Program. Through pharmaceutical sales, PLD and their customers have made donations to The American Breast Cancer Foundation and The Children’s Miracle Network. The successful Charity Donation Program ensured that the charities participating received a portion of proceeds earned through the sale of products bearing their logo. “It was more effective to tie the two programs together, and we decided a donation will be made to the charity of choice for every artist that participates in our Journey Forward Art Project,” according to Stephanie Witowski, Public Relations Associate.

As PLD continues Journey Forward, creativity is welcomed through their doors and minds. PL Developments exhibits photographs, paintings and drawings in their headquarters, and continues to add to the collection. During Phase Three of the Journey Forward Art Project, PL Developments hopes to extend to a broader art and design community. PLD welcomes visitors to the exhibit in their facility. The response has been overwhelming. “This truly has been a journey for us and the creativity we experience on a daily basis enhances our minds and our space,” said Ms. Witowski.
