KUA.net Delivers the Classroom to Homebound Students

KUA.net, the telecommunications division of Kissimmee Utility Authority, announced today that it has partnered with the School District of Osceola County to provide free Internet connectivity to homebound students.

Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) August 25, 2006 –- KUA.net, the telecommunications division of Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA), announced today that it has partnered with the School District of Osceola County to provide free Internet connectivity to homebound students.

The school district provides services to homebound students who are out of school for a variety of reasons including but not limited to, physical disabilities and short- or long-term illnesses.

This new partnership enables students to keep pace with their onsite classmates, providing for a smooth, successful transition when they return to school.

Each homebound student is issued a laptop computer with standard desktop applications to actively participate in the learning process. The computer uses the student's existing Internet access to connect to the classroom. If no access to the Internet exists in the home, the students use a nationwide dial-up connection provided by KUA.net.

"This nationwide capability becomes especially important when students have to travel outside the state for medical care or treatment," said Jef Gray, KUA's vice president of information technology. "KUA.net has local dial-up numbers in cities throughout the U.S. which enable students to connect with their home school back in Osceola County."

About KUA.net
Launched in 1998, KUA.net (www.kua.net) is a regional competitor in both telecommunications and Internet services. The utility's product line includes dial-up access, wireless connectivity, full and fractional T-1 connectivity, e-commerce, Web hosting and Web design.

About KUA
