The Anvil Group as a City & Guilds approved training centre, SIA approved contractor and training provider, have launched the “Employer Assistance Program” as part of the SIA approved Close Protection training course. This will assist employers in deciding role suitability for potential new close protection officers.
The training provided within the SIA Training Course is intense and covers the range of knowledge and skills that a Close Protection Officer should posses to obtain an SIA License. However, during the training students will demonstrate strengths and weaknesses in particular skill sets.
Anvil’s programme has been integrated within the Anvil Close Protection Course to identify these skill sets by grading a candidate in each module. This will therefore determine a candidate’s suitable roles within the working Close Protection environment, for example: Resident Security Team, PES Driver or as a Logistics Manager.
Great numbers of individuals are training for the SIA License in Close Protection from a range of different backgrounds and it is Anvil’s intention that both candidates and employers should have confidence in the quality and validity of the training. Courses run for 4 weeks but only the real world working environments will provide candidates with true experience. It is therefore essential for all concerned that those candidates whom pass the training are placed in the correct positions.
The Anvil Group are committed to quality and best practice which is why we are one of only three companies that have been approved by the SIA as an approved contractor as well as obtaining the status of a City & Guilds approved training centre.
The SIA ACS approval now gives The Anvil Group legal authorisation to deploy close protection officers whom have completed the legally required training and whom are awaiting issue of their license. It is illegal for a business to deploy unlicensed officers unless they are approved under the Approved Contractor Scheme.
The City & Guilds endorsement proves that our training programme has the highest standards of quality assurance. On top of which we would like to invite potential employers to our training centre and actually observe courses.
The Private Security Industry Act 2001 requires the SIA to establish a “system of inspection for providers of security services, under which those organisations who satisfactorily meet the agreed standards may be registered as approved, and may advertise themselves as such”.
The objective of the SIA’s Approved Contractor scheme is to raise performance standards and to assist the private security industry in developing new opportunities. The scheme is voluntary and was developed in consultation with representatives from across the industry; it only covers those parts of the industry that are regulated by the SIA and the Private Security Industry Act.
