Motorcycle Accessories Retailer Helps Riders Save Time, Money, and Lives with On-Board Air Compressor

Moto-Xpress, an online motorcycle accessories retailer, offers an on-board air compressor for motorcycles to keep riders from risking their bike and their lives by traveling on under- or over-inflated tires.

Garden Grove, CA (PRWEB) August 29, 2006 -- Moto-Xpress, an online motorcycle accessories retailer, is offering Savior 250psi, a fairing-mounted air compressor that will keep riders from traveling on under- or over-inflated tires.

Under-inflation can be a serious problem if left unattended. A recent NHTSA report shows that just 10% under-inflation will shorten a tire’s tread life by as much as 16%. "If we use an average tire price of $100, ten percent under-inflation costs about $15 for each tire," said Joe Kosoglow, Owner of Moto-Xpress. "In addition, because the tires will be changed more often, there’s going to be increased service costs as well as more vehicle downtime."

Under-inflation of a motorcycle tire may also:

  • Damage the tire, leading to tire failure
  • Adversely affect vehicle cornering
  • Reduce tire life
  • Increase fuel consumption
  • Cause fatigue cracking

Having an on-board air compressor allows the motorcycle rider to conveniently check and maintain suitable tire inflation whenever or wherever necessary. The Savior 250psi on-board air compressor can re-inflate a tire in about five minutes and can adjust air shocks with uncontaminated air.

Although under-inflation can cause a rider to lose a lot of time and money maintaining his or her bike, riding on tires with too much air can endanger lives.

"The tires are more likely to be cut, punctured, or broken by sudden impact, causing serious accidents that could lead to personal injury or death," said Kosoglow.

When using an air compressor to inflate a motorcycle tire, Kosoglow recommends riders do not exceed the pressure indicated on the tire sidewall. Consult the owner’s manual for the recommended inflation and other tire information. Never inflate a tire unless it is secured to the motorcycle or a tire-mounting machine. Inflating an unsecured tire is dangerous; if it bursts, it could be hurled into the air with explosive force, resulting in serious personal injury or death.

Currently, the Savior 250psi on-board air compressor is only available for the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide, Electra Glide Classic, Electra Glide Ultra Classic and Street Glide. It comes with a tire repair kit and inflation adapters.
