Investor Quinland Co. Ltd., a public company in Japan, signs capital and business alliance with worldÂ?s leading digital imaging company to support its global R&D and marketing efforts.

FrameFree Global Limited today announced it has closed a series B round of funding of three billion yen, the equivalent of US$26 million, from Japan-based Quinland Co., Ltd. The funding will be used toward research and development efforts, as well as to execute a global branding and marketing campaign as FrameFree continues to develop new products and broaden its markets worldwide. The agreement also states Quinland will work with FrameFree Holdings Limited to joint-develop FrameFree-based online game software for the global market, and will provide marketing support for the FrameFree United Networks (FUN), a global digital content authoring and delivery system that creates and aggregates original content for efficient, worldwide distribution.

FrameFree Technolgies, Inc. launched in 2004 in the U.S. with a family of products that provide easy and efficient authoring and compression of motion imagery. FrameFree Technologies Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of FrameFree Global Limited. Recently, FrameFree Technologies announced a partnership with Akamai Technologies, Inc., the leading global service provider for accelerating content and business processes online, to power FUN. FrameFree Technologies is active in the mobile market and recently announced its alliance with HI CORPORATION, an international mobile content leader, and with QUALCOMM to support its solution with its FrameFree Studio animation technology.

“FrameFree has a lot of momentum in all of Quinland’s key markets – mobile, film, television, digital poster, and the Internet – and this funding from a Japanese public company will help us capitalize on that and will allow us to continue to grow both in the U.S., Japan, China and around the world,” said Thomas Randolph, director, FrameFree Global Limited. “We are very pleased to have an innovative company such as Quinland to not only be an investor but a strategic partner in these efforts.”

“FrameFree Technologies has made very impressive inroads in the U.S. in a short amount of time,” said Kazuya Yoshimura, CEO and representative director of Quinland Co. Ltd. “We believe it is a testament to the innovative nature of the technology and its applications for multiple markets. For these reasons there is a tremendous opportunity for an IT-oriented global sales and marketing company like Quinland to establish a long term strategic alliance with game-changing and disruptive technology like FrameFree Studio and FrameFree Video.”

Built on the world’s most advanced pixel-matching and interpolation engine, FrameFree Studio starts with any-resolution digital still images, and through analysis, interpolation and morphing, automatically provides interactivity and smooth motion between them, resulting in a completely new medium and style of visual expression. The motion imagery generation is fast, easy-to-learn and virtually automatic, ending the need for powerful systems and lengthy frame-by-frame editing, and leaving digital content producers more time to orchestrate their creative vision.
