Community Lending for Macintosh Enthusiasts
Mac Lenders is a community of Macintosh Enthusiasts who have gathered together to collectively lend funds to existing and new Mac users. Using a P2P money-lending system run by Prosper, whose business model is similar to eBay, but for helping borrowers get low rate loans. Lenders receive the gratification of helping to grow the Mac platform and earn interest on funds they lend. The borrower receives funds to buy a new Mac at a lower interest rate than credit card financing or Apple Credit would provide.
(PRWEB) August 31, 2006 -- The Apple User Group on Prosper (AUGP) was founded March 2006 after Prosper.com opened to the public. Mac Lenders immediately saw the great opportunities that the new form of P2P lending would offer to the financial community. It is a new platform for inexpensive loans for consumers and the ability for lenders to make better returns on their money over Money Market savings accounts and CDs.
Mac Lenders felt that prosper offered a great opportunity to form a Apple Computer specific group as a way to help fellow Mac users get better financing rates than traditional forms of credit. The AUGP is able to offer rates as much as 5% lower than other types of credit including Credit Cards and Apple Credit. The reduced rates are possible due to the lower overhead than banks and credit cards have due to marketing and operation expenses. Prosper also effectively reduces the cost of the middleman thus further reducing rates for borrowers and increasing the rates for lenders.
The lending members of the AUGP consist of Mac professionals from the IT industry to creative artists and private Mac users. Many or our lenders are also avid Apple Computer stock investors (aapl).
