Rotary Club of Dallas Host it's Annual Camp Enterprise

More than 15 years ago, Rotarian Doug Reeder brought an idea to the Dallas Rotary Club. He envisioned a camp for Dallas area high school seniors to explore the fundamental challenges, opportunities, and obligations of the free enterprise system.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 10, 2006 -- Under his leadership, the first Dallas Rotary Camp Enterprise was held in 1985.

Doug wrote at the time: “The Free Enterprise System has enabled the United States of America to become the greatest nation in the world and in recorded history. We enjoy freedoms no one else has ever enjoyed… The role of Camp Enterprise is not to brain wash or indoctrinate, but rather to awaken. It’s virtues, when presented by those who have been blessed by it, speak for themselves.”

Every year since 1985 men and women of the Dallas Rotary Club have hosted a group of between 100 and 130 Dallas area high school seniors at Camp Enterprise. These Rotarians represent all sizes and types of businesses, professions, agencies, and institutions.

The students, the best of the best from their respective high schools, are selected because of their scholastic and leadership abilities. All students receive full scholarships to attend the camp, funded by the Dallas Rotary Club Foundation or, in some cases, by participating area Rotary Clubs.

The Camp is an intensive three day seminar on business issues. Students interact with business executives, entrepreneurs, politicians, and government representatives in a setting designed to promote the exchange of ideas and camaraderie.

The program is tightly scheduled with team projects, presentations, panels, case studies, and small group discussions. During breaks from organized sessions students have the opportunity to enjoy recreational activities. Each evening students participate in activities such as competitive games or entertainment programs.

The Chair for this year's Camp Enterprise is Christine Holmberg. Along with Nick Hosn, Michael Rideau, Frank & Donnie Breedlove, Paul Cleavenger, Kurt Pyka, Mary Rock, Jim Atkins and many other Rotarians they plan on an exciting Camp this year.

This is just one of the many youth programs that The Rotary Club of Dallas has scheduled. If you would like make a donation to Camp Enterprise to support this worthy program please call 214.742.5451.
