The Sun is Shining in South Africa for Exosect: Exosect Signs New Regional Distributor Following Successful Launch of Exosex CM in South Africa

Exosect, a leading provider of environmentally conscious insect pest control, today announced that it has appointed Terason, a leading provider of crop solutions in South Africa, to distribute its mating disruption product, Exosex CM, to growers across South Africa.

(PRWEB) September 3, 2006 -- Exosect, a leading provider of environmentally conscious insect pest control, today announced that it has appointed Terason, a leading provider of crop solutions in South Africa, to distribute its mating disruption product, Exosex CM, to growers across South Africa.

Exosect launched its latest commercially available mating disruption product near Cape Town, South Africa on the 24th July 2006 in conjunction with its South African based partner, Biogrow. The one day launch event educated Terason’s technical advisors and crop solution specialists on how its unique mating disruption product – Exosex CM – can be used to control the population of the Codling Moth, an insect pest found in apple and pear orchards and how the system can be used on a flexible basis to provide effective coverage over early and late varieties.

“We have been conducting trials on 60 hectares of apple and pear orchards in South Africa for three years before the launch in July. The trials tested the efficacy of using Exosex CM in conjunction with an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach,” explains Managing Director at Exosect, Martin Brown. “Based on the results we are confident that Exosex CM provides growers with a robust level of control and an alternative to traditional chemical regimes.”

Technical Manager at Terason, Dirk van Eeden comments, “As specialists in the field of integrated crop solutions, which also includes organic farming and the use of biologicals in pest control, Exosex CM is a perfect fit for us. We are especially impressed with the ability of the system to fit with Integrated Pest Management. We predict that in the next season alone Terason will have rolled out Exosex CM across 500 hectares of apple and pear orchards in South Africa.”

Kobus Hartman, Market Access Manager at Capespan, a global leader in the marketing of fresh fruit, remarked on the commercial viability of Exosect’s latest product, “The launch of this product is extremely encouraging as it means that South African growers have yet further options for Integrated Pest Management.”

South Africa is one of four countries in which Exosex CM will be commercially available in 2006 along with the USA, New Zealand and the UK.
