Local Christian Author to be Interviewed on 'The Bob Dutko Show'

Local Christian author Sandra Eggers will discuss her new book, "Dying Body, Growing Faith," with Christian radio talk show host Bob Dutko. (WMUZ 103.5--the Light.) "Dying Body, Growing Faith" is an inspirational and true story of how her husband, the Rev. Dr. STeve Eggers, struggled against Stage IV colon cancer.

Detroit, MI (PRWEB) September 3, 2006 -- In her new book, Dying Body, Growing Faith, author Sandra Eggers tells the inspirational and true story of how her husband, the Rev. Dr. Steve Eggers, struggled against Stage IV colon cancer. Based on e-mails sent to family and friends during their more than two-year battle, these “SteveUpdates” did more than chronicle the Eggers’ cancer journey for their 80 recipients. The Eggers also shared with them what they were learning about living, so their friends and family could apply it in their own lives.

“The one fact you need to know when you battle cancer or any other terminal illness,” says Sandra Eggers, “is to know it’s a psychological battle, too. You fight it by taking your life back, by making your ‘new normal’ as normal as possible. And that includes finding joy in the midst of it all.”

For example, Eggers says that she and her late husband worked hard to find joy in the simple things in life, like a gelato on a warm summer’s evening, a good glass of wine, fresh flowers at dinner. Such simple things, notes Eggers in her book, are what C.S. Lewis describes as “the middling things.”

Some of the other themes in the book include: the strain cancer places on a marriage; reliance on God and the role of hardship in creating character.

Eggers will be interviewed about the book by Bob Dutko, host of the Christian talk radio program “The Bob Dutko Show” (WMUZ 103.5 FM—The Light.) The interview will occur on Tuesday, September 12 at 1:30 P.M.

“The Bob Dutko Show” is heard throughout Southeastern Michigan, Northewestern Ohio and parts of Ontario, Canada, making it one of the largest Christian radio talk shows in the country. Some of Dutko’s previous guests have included Dr. James Dobson, Frank Peretti, Phyllis Schlafly, Joyce Meyer, Ann Coulter, Newt Gingrich and Oliver North. In addition to interviews, the show offers up a steady stream of faith-building and apologetics.

In her more than 20 years’ experience as a professional writer, Eggers has held positions including: general assignment reporter for the Knoxville (IA) Journal-Express; business magazine writer; business magazine editor; radio copywriter; direct mail copywriter; free lance writer and now, founder and president of Purple Eagle Marketing, a marketing communications company whose mission is to transform companies and increase their sales through the power of words. Eggers regularly conducts free, two-hour workshops on “How to Create Brochures that will Save You Money, Time & Headaches.” Eggers lives in the metropolitan Detroit area. Dying Body, Growing Faith is her first book.
