Who Killed Detroit?

Former Detroit Police Commissioner to Speak at Michigan Bookstore

(PRWEB) September 3, 2006 -- Marine City, Mich. Former Detroit Police Commissioner, Johannes F. Spreen, will be speaking and signing books at The Book Blues bookstore in Marine City, Michigan, on September 16, 2006.

“I assume part of the responsibility for killing Detroit,” said Spreen, referring to the title of one of his books. In reflection, Spreen feels he should’ve stayed on as Detroit Police Commissioner. However, both professional and personal circumstances, which Spreen will discuss during his signing, prevented him from doing so.

During his discussion, he will also cover his career in law enforcement, including his 25-year history with the New York police department, Detroit police department, and as Oakland County, Mich., Sheriff. Mr. Spreen's books: "Who Killed Detroit? Other Cities Beware!", "American Law Enforcement - Does Not Serve or Protect", and "American Police Dilemma: Protectors or Enforcers?" will all be available for signing.

Mr. Spreen, who was in law enforcement from 1941 – 1985, spent 25 years on the New York Police force, rising to the New York City command of operations. He served as Detroit Police Commissioner from 1968-1970 and then as Sheriff of Oakland County, Mich.
