Tuna Point Lighthouse Inc. Adds Hurricane Information Page to Websites

In the height of the hurricane season, Tuna Point Lighthouse Inc. adds a Hurricane information page to http://www.tunapointlighthouse.homestead.com The page has information on every hurricane and tropical storm that has passed within 2 degrees of latitude of Puerto Rico as well as Hurricane preparedness information in streaming video format and interactive maps.

Mays Landing, NJ and Maunabo, Puerto Rico (PRWEB) September 5, 2006 -- “The height of the Hurricane season has reminded us of the extreme number of Hurricanes and Tropical Storms that have passed near or over Puerto Rico.” Stated George Van Parys, President of Tuna Point Lighthouse Inc. Many of these storms have passed directly over the Tuna Point Lighthouse. A page has been created with the assistance of the National Weather Service Forecast Office in San Juan that details every Hurricane and Tropical Storm that has passed within 2 degrees of latitude of Puerto Rico from the year 1515 to the present.

Also an important feature on the page is an interactive map of the island of Puerto Rico created in cooperation with the University of Puerto Rico Sea Grant Program. This map allows you to select a section of the island and determine the exact height of storm surge your community would be subject to in a storm. The map is detailed almost to the level of individual house locations.
