(PRWEB) September 4, 2006 -- WR Consulting has announced today that a variety of its web-based world clock products implemented in Macromedia Flash are released free of charge. Flash world clock usage license requires webmasters to use a link to WR Consulting from any public page of their web site.
WR Consulting also develops and markets ZoneTick World Time Zone Clock for Windows, which is a popular world clock application working on Windows desktops. Flash world clock resembles functionality in the desktop world clock.
"We used to offer flash clone of the desktop world clock free of charge only to our affiliates.", - said Nik Okuntseff, CEO of WR Consulting. "But now we take it one step further. Anyone can use it free of charge now. We are offering free help with configuration, too."
Flash world clock is a Macromedia Flash plugin. It runs in user browser and uses local computer PC clock as a reference point. The plugin takes parameters from a page that loads it, which define clock time zones and other details.
Two world clock variations are currently offered. The flash movie, which is a very small .swf file, may take a string like the one below to display a clock for Sydney, Australia:
"z=600&dst=5110.0200-5103.0300&bias=60&label=Sydney"
Here z=600 stands for time zone, meaning that the clock is 600 minutes ahead of UTC time; dst=5110.0200-5103.0300 - daylight saving time starts on last Sunday in October at 02:00 hours and ends on last Sunday in March at 03:00 hours; bias=60 - daylight saving shift is 60 minutes; label=Sydney - label for this clock is Sydney.
Another variation currently in development utilizes zoneinfo package from the Unix world. To define timezone for New York clock you simply pass the "America/New_York" string to it. The rest is handled automatically by the code written by WR Consulting and time zone data from zoneinfo package.
If your site serves visitors with interests in several time zones consider using free flash world clock as one of your options.
