Bertles and Klein have opened shop as Talking Point Films, a new company for both veterans of startups that plans to serve a new niche in the internet communications market, that is; short personal documentaries for a huge variety of websites. According to Bertles, who ran Madfacts.Com (an art sales site) for 5 years, "the whole endeavor is to bring short, intelligent, compelling films to websites lacking a spark."
Bertles is behind the films themselves. His experience as a journalist and business developer has given him a unique take on what it is to promote and build an amazing site. Bertles used his former website to build a successful business selling art around the world. This experience left him with an understanding of what and what does not work on various sites. "What I have found lately is that many creative sites have a lot of bells and whistles, but very little in the way of actual information and the story behind an individuals passion," Bertles said.
To that end, step in Michael Klein, who is clearly the business brain behind this venture. Klein has almost three decades in the art business. It is his understanding of the need for creative people to express their passion that has led him to become part of this new business. "My goal is to help any website that is trying to get a message out to the public," remarked Klein, adding, "so many sites just leave people wanting more and we hope to bridge that gap with a more interesting way for individuals to tell their stories."
According to the two men behind Talking Point Films, their site http://www.talkingpointfilms.com, offers examples and contact information for people who want to add unique video to an existing site. "Our site does not actually host the films we make, but we always have samples of the films so people can see what it is we do," Bertles said. "People should not be confused," added Klein, "these are interesting and creative films put together to showcase the skills and passion behind artistic peoples websites. We want that experience of visiting a website to offer the viewer a more profound understanding of what it is that drives people to do what it is they do."
Talking Point Films has been in development for over a year. The TalkingPointFilms.Com website is up and functioning. New films get posted weekly and businesses are beginning to sign up to have films produced. As the company grows, there are plans to spread production to more producers and editors. As it stands today, when you click "Ask Klein" on the website, you will get a reply from Michael Klein. That is the way the company plans to stay focused. "What we really want to do is help people with the inherent message of their site," added Klein, "if we can capture the passion and the love people have put into their sites in a short QuickTime documentary and that helps people draw more interest to their sites, then we have done our job."
