“Into the Arms of Angels,” Fioravanti’s Tribute to America's Unknowns, is Juried into Connecticut Pastel Society National Exhibition

Lynn, MA (PRWEB) September 6, 2006 -- Jeff Fioravanti’s pastel painting “Into the Arms of Angels (Unknown fathers, sons, brothers…Americans)” has been juried into the 13th Annual “Renaissance in Pastel” a National Art Exhibition sponsored by the Connecticut Pastel Society. Scheduled to open September 16, 2006 and run through November 19, 2006, the exhibit features works by many of the nation’s top practicing pastel artists and will be on display at the Slater Memorial Museum, 108 Crescent Street, Norwich, Connecticut during regular museum hours of Tuesday – Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday & Sunday 1–4 p.m.; the museum is closed on Mondays. Jeff Fioravanti is an award-winning artist, including the recipient of “Best in Show” at a previous “Renaissance in Pastel” national exhibit. He resides in Lynn, Massachusetts, and over the past several years he has gained an increased following for his work via a series of one man exhibits, as well as art inspired programs aimed at increasing awareness for the preservation and conservation of America’s lands, properties and antiquities.

A member of several highly respected art organizations, he holds the added distinction of “signature member” in such well known groups as the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, the Pastel Society of America (NY, NY) and the exhibition sponsor, the Connecticut Pastel Society. Featured in a recent article in American Artist Magazine (Nov. 2005), the artist was also recently honored with the “Terry Ludwig Gold Award” at the 7th Annual “For Pastels Only” exhibit sponsored by the Pastel Painters of Maine, and exhibited as part of the 11th Annual “For Pastels Only on Cape Cod”, at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham, Massachusetts and sponsored by the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod.

“The inspiration behind “Into the Arms of Angels” comes from the stories of the children who never got to know their father, of loved ones who never again got to embrace their husband, son, or brother,” said Jeff. “It's about families that never got closure, who were left to wonder about their loved one's last moments; how their loved one perished, were they alone in their last hours; what happened?”

“Into the Arms of Angels,” commented the artist, “is not about war, but of peace and hope. It's a piece intended to offer a connection, to a loved one; lost in war, or at any time, it's an offering of comfort in knowing that when that loved one breathed their last, that they were not alone, but rather their spirit, their soul, was gently gathered “Into the Arms of Angels” for their final journey home,” concluded the artist.
