The Second Annual Kidney Walk will be held by the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin on Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Mitchell Park, in Brookfield. Registration is free and all registered walkers receive free admission to the Hidden River Art Festival.
Brookfield, WI (PRWEB) September 10, 2006 -- One in 9 adults is living with kidney disease and most don’t even know it. The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin (NKFW) is asking citizens to help in the fight against kidney disease by participating in the Second Annual Kidney Walk.
Participants should head to Mitchell Park (in Brookfield) on September 24, at 8:30 a.m., to participate in the kidney walk. Registration is free and participants can choose between a 1-, 2-, or 3-mile route along a paved pathway. In addition, registered walkers will receive free admission to the Hidden River Art Festival.
“Diabetes and high blood pressure are the leading causes of kidney failure,” says Cindy Huber, CEO of the NKFW. “The Kidney Walk will draw attention to the importance of early detection for those at risk while raising funds for kidney patients and their families.” More than 300 participants are expected.
Walkers of all ages are invited to join in the fun by walking individually or by forming a team. For more information, sponsor forms or to register call the NKFW at 262-821-0705 or visit www.kidneywi.org. On site registration will be accepted as well.
The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin is dedicated to the prevention of kidney and urinary tract disease, improving the health and well-being of patients and families affected by these diseases and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.
