China, India, and Brazil Home to Emerging Spinal Implant Markets

The increasing affluence of these countries combined with large populations will drive the spinal implant market, according to a new report by Millennium Research Group.

Waltham, MA (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -- Millennium Research Group (MRG), the global authority on medical technology market intelligence, reports that China, India, and Brazil are home to emerging spinal implant markets, presenting significant revenue potential. These three countries are becoming increasingly attractive targets for expansion and foreign investment for overseas medical device manufacturers. According to a new series entitled Emerging Markets for Spinal Implants 2006, booming economies and improving healthcare infrastructure, coupled with strengthening foreign trade, are facilitating the import of spinal implants into these three countries.

With so many people residing in these nations, the market opportunities for spinal implant manufacturers are developing rapidly. The success of these opportunities, however, is largely dependent on the limited number of affluent citizens. Premium-priced spinal nonfusion devices, which comprise artificial discs, dynamics stabilization devices, and nuclear disc prostheses, must be paid for by private insurance companies or those who can incur the significant out-of-pocket expense. Regardless, nonfusion technologies will become more prominent over the next 5 years, due to greater surgeon familiarity with the techniques and devices, increased surgeon training efforts, and the release of more favorable clinical data.

MRG’s Emerging Markets for Spinal Implants 2006 series covers various key industry competitors, such as Medtronic Sofamor Danek (MDT), DePuy Spine (JNJ), B.Braun / Aesculap, Sushrut-Adler Group, A-Spine, MDT, Stryker Spine (SYK), GMReis, Sharma Surgical, Synthes Spine (SYST), General Surgical, Smit Medimed, Trauson, Trans Global, Uma Surgical, Hardik International, Baumer, Changzhou Kanghui, Ortosintese, and Beijing Liberty.

About Spinal Fusion
Spinal fusion is a surgical procedure performed to alleviate pain caused by pathologic conditions of the spine and to restore segmental stability and alignment. Spinal fusion may or may not include auxiliary instrumentation such as plates, screws, and cages.
