Air Speed Internet, LLC. Completes Network Expansion and Core Network Upgrade

Air Speed Internet upgrades the network and expands service territory.

Washougal, WA (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -- Air Speed Internet, LLC., completed a core network upgrade last month and has successfully migrated existing customers to the system. The upgraded system consists of a digital licensed wireless link between Air Speed’s key aggregation point in Clark County and the internet access point in downtown Portland. The upgrade, which increases Air Speed’s bandwidth from 20 megabits to 300 megabits, is intended to add additional capacity and reliability to the network and overcomes the issues that can occur with unlicensed systems.

Bill Jorgensen, Vice President of Operations said, “The migration to a licensed link was inevitable. Our customers demand a high quality service and we wanted to ensure that our core operation was rock solid. Many of our corporate clients insist that we remain 100% diverse from the local wireline networks but they want the same 99.99% reliability. The new system will ensure that we can continue to provide a reliable primary or secondary internet connection for all clients.”

When asked what was driving the growth, Mr. Jorgensen replied, “Many of our business clients have migrated to VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services and they need a high quality and reliable connection which requires more bandwidth. Our residential customers have embraced VoIP and Online Gaming, so they continue to press us for more bandwidth too.”

In addition, Air Speed has completed the installation of two new access points with three more in the works. The new additions provide Air Speed with the ability to provide services from Portland to Battleground and from Troutdale to St. Helens.

Air Speed closed on the latest round of private financing in late April. The funds have been earmarked for network upgrade and service area expansion. The company did not disclose the sum raised but did indicate that the infusion would significantly expand the company’s presence in Clark County and Multnomah County.

Air Speed Internet is a Wireless Internet Service Provider (“WISP”) based in Washougal, WA. The company initiated business in 2003 and provides broadband, collocation and remote security surveillance to more than 700 hundred business and residential customers in Oregon and Washington.
