ATP Introduces Smart 'N Secure (SnS) Technology at CTIA, Wireless Content Protection Technology to Enable Secure Distribution of Data on Flash Memory Devices
ATP Electronics, a leading manufacturer of digital flash media products, today announced Smart ‘N Secure (SnS), a patent-pending content protection technology allowing for its customers to securely distribute content for mobile phones, PDAs and other mobile digital devices. While effective for any type of data application, SnS is especially useful for the secure distribution of licensed content such as photos, music, movies, and games. ATP will be demonstrating the technology at the CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment show September 12-14 in Los Angeles Convention Center, where ATP is exhibiting at Booth #605.
Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -- ATP Electronics, a leading manufacturer of digital flash media products, today announced Smart ‘N Secure (SnS), a patent-pending content protection technology allowing for its customers to securely distribute content for mobile phones, PDAs and other mobile digital devices.
“Content providers such as record labels, movie studios, and mobile network operators are looking for a secure way to distribute their content through flash memory devices for mobile applications,” said Michael Plaksin, ATP VP of Flash Media Sales. “Many of the content protection solutions today have been viewed as being complicated and expensive to implement, which prompted ATP to design a simple solution with the ease and flexibility of deployment as the primary considerations. We feel that it is important to provide this type of unique and exclusive protection to help improve the support and service that we provide to our business partners.”
SnS employs a multiple key, encryption/decryption process to secure the content on the flash device. This, along with hardware implemented SnS functions on the flash device allow for the total security of the content. Content usage is dependent on the original flash device. Unauthorized copies, while still containing the data, will be useless without the original flash device key.
SnS Basic Features:
- No hardware modification is necessary on the host device
- Allows for the storage of both public and secure data within the same device
- Device independent, can be caused on any FAT/FAT32 compatible host device
- Hardware implemented into ATP flash memory devices for a higher level of security
- Accommodates today’s most popular content distribution models including preloaded content and network downloadable content
SnS can be implemented in all ATP flash products including SecureDigital cards, CompactFlash cards, MultiMediaCards as well as USB drives. SnS enabled flash cards are available immediately, with USB drive support expected in Q1 2007.
