Former Seneca Resources President and current Chairman for Foundation for Energy Education to make keynote address at 14th Annual Energy Policy Conference in Dallas TX on September 18th, 2006.
James A. Beck is slated not only as the keynote address for the Energy Policy Conference Luncheon, but he is also serving as Honorary Conference Chairman. Beck is also serving as Chairman for the Foundation for Energy Education. Beck recently retired from Seneca Resources Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of National Fuel Gas Company. Mr. Beck joined National Fuel Gas in 1989 as Manager of Operations for Seneca's California production, following 20 years of experience in the petroleum industry throughout the United States and internationally. In 1995, he was elected Executive Vice President of Seneca and had been President since 1996. Seneca has operations in the onshore area of Texas and Louisiana, as well as offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, Appalachia, California and the western provinces of Canada.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Beck accepted the position as Chairman of the Foundation for Energy Education. This not for profit organization was started in 1996 to inform the public on all aspects of energy use and conservation. Its current emphasis is on highlighting the importance of the independent oil companies during this current energy crisis. Patterned from the OERB in Oklahoma, our goal is to achieve the same success in Texas.
Mr. Beck is a graduate of Iowa State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Petroleum Institute. He was also a member of the board of the Domestic Petroleum Council (DPC). In addition, Mr. Beck is a registered Professional Geoscientist in the State of Texas.
The topic for Mr. Beck’s address is “Energy Education: The Challenges Ahead.”
