New Release of Petro-SIM, Petro-SIM Express and SIM Suite from KBC

KBC Advanced Technologies plc (KBC) announces the release of Version 3 of Petro-SIM, Petro-SIM Express and the KBC SIM Suite. KBC continues its commitment to providing the best-in-class process simulation software available for the refining and petrochemicals industries.

London, UK and Houston, Texas (PRWEB) September 11, 2006 -- KBC Advanced Technologies plc (KBC) announces the release of Version 3 of Petro-SIM, Petro-SIM Express and the KBC SIM Suite.

KBC continues its commitment to providing the best-in-class process simulation software available for the refining and petrochemicals industries.

Version 3 of Petro-SIM contains innovative ways to integrate simulation with key systems in the process plant – plant data information systems, LPs, relational databases, and Excel; all are included as part of the basic simulation package. Case management and usability is enhanced with change tracking features - a first on this simulation platform. These change tracking features include: an Undo feature, a journal to automatically record changes, and case comparison tools. Version 3 extends the features of the internal spreadsheet and adds a host of new features accessed with a click of a mouse. With this release, KBC also introduces a unique Knowledge Base - built-in intelligence that selects key results based on “Best Practices.” These features are all available in both Petro-SIM and Petro-SIM Express.

KBC continues to improve its industry-leading reactor models with Version 3, including new versions of the hydrocracking and hydrotreating models HCR-SIM, RHDS-SIM, and VGO-SIM, and KBC’s delayed coker model, DC-SIM. There are enhancements to KBC’s reformer, visbreaker and alkylation models. KBC also adds three new models to the KBC SIM Suite: an Isomerization model for C4 through C6, and models for aromatics isomerization and aromatics transalkyation. Like KBC’s other world-leading reactor models, these kinetic-based models can be calibrated to match real-unit data.

“This release extends KBC’s lead in refinery and petrochemical process optimization” says Simon Rogers, CIO of KBC. “Petro-SIM is the only system capable of rigorously simulating complex integrated refineries and petrochemical plants. Version 3 demonstrates our commitment to continuously increase the value our clients get from simulation by making it more accurate and easier to use.”
