Also known as E21, the publicly traded firm (EGLF.OB) manufactures golf clubs consisting of a proprietary alloy made primarily from Scandium, called E21 Metal. This strong, yet lightweight material was originally developed for aerospace applications, including fighter jets, missiles and the International Space Station.

To promote its high-performance clubs, E21 is sponsoring the “World’s Longest Drive,” a golf shot that will be taken on Thanksgiving Day by Cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin outside the International Space Station. While tethered to the space station, Tyurin will use a special gold-plated E21 club to hit a gold-plated ball into orbit.

“We have enjoyed a great deal of success with our sports marketing clients, but E21 is going to be out of this world,” said Mark Jeffers, vice president of sports marketing and business development at Giles Communications.

Jeffers established the Sports Marketing Division at Giles Communications one year ago and has signed a number of prominent clients in several areas, from cricket to baseball, boxing to mixed martial arts and soccer to polo. The division also launched the nationwide release of the bodybuilding film “No Pain, No Gain,” publicized the Breeders Crown premier horse racing event and built the Website for the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, which puts NASCAR drivers on ice.

This year, Giles Communications celebrates its 20th anniversary of providing blue-chip public relations, marketing and online communications services.
