The mistaken belief that all graduating high school students should attend university sets countless students up for failure. Malibu, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2006 -- Joining the university bandwagon? Studies show that high school seniors will jump on the college bandwagon. According to the National Education Longitudinal Survey eighty-four percent of graduating high school seniors has a goal of completing a college degree. The reality, of those who enroll in college, the majority will drop out after only a few months. Less than 42 percent will actually receive a college degree. Those students who had poor grades in high school, only 14 percent graduate with a degree.

Many times high school counselors and parents believe students should be college bound immediately following high school. The reality, however, is that the student may not be emotionally mature enough to adapt to university work, or they are not motivated by traditional college life.
