SoundBytes’ Products for The Deaf and Hard of Hearing to be Featured on 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'

Specialized alerting devices to appear on ABC's Emmy-nominated reality home improvement program, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." scheduled to air September 17, 2006.

SoundBytes, a catalog, web and retail-based company that specializes in providing assistive equipment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals announced it has supplied specialized alerting devices for the home of the Llanes Family of Bergenfield, New Jersey for an upcoming episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The popular television show taped an episode featuring the Llanes family from May 4th through May 11th, 2006. The Llanes family was in need of specialized products since four members of the family are blind and one is deaf. SoundBytes’ affiliate company independent living aids, Inc. (ila), is supplied products as well.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC. The episode featuring the Llanes family is scheduled to air September 17th, 2006. SoundBytes supplied three alerting devices for the episode. The first device, a portable vibrating alarm clock made by Krown Manufacturing Inc., is small and has a built-in vibration so not to disturb others when the alarm goes off. The other two products were a Silent Call smoke detector and Shake Up receiver with vibration and the Kidde Talking Carbon Monoxide Detector and Smoke Alarm with Strobe, meant for hard of hearing individuals.
