New Book-How to Create a High-Profit Photography Business in Any Market by James Williams
Photography is not an easy way to make a living, but with the right skills, both behind the camera and as a business person, it can be very rewarding—financially and creatively.
Buffalo, New York (PRWEB) September 15, 2006 -- Amherst Media today announces How to Create a High-Profit Photography Business in Any Market by James Williams ISBN# 1-58428-182-0
Is having great skill in photography enough to ensure a thriving portrait photography business? Surprisingly, no; in fact, it’s far from enough. While skill is important to success, it won’t pay the bills. You’ve got to create an unprecedented connection with your clients, build excitement, and create a demand for your work—and this book will show you how. Author James Williams uses his personal success as a professional photographer as a blueprint for other photographers who want to learn how to stand apart from their competitors, make money doing what they love, and realize their artistic goals.
First, Williams guides you through the process of setting long- and short-term goals for your business. You’ll learn how to identify the type of clients that you want to attract and to ensure that every aspect of your business draws—and satisfies—your chosen demographic. Next, you’ll learn how to craft a studio experience that wows your clients from the minute they pull into the parking lot. You’ll also get ideas for pampering your client—from greeting them at their car with a large umbrella in the event of rain, to personalizing their dressing room, to putting them at ease in the camera room. You’ll also get tips for creating an elegant, “rich” studio atmosphere that soothes the senses and doesn’t break the bank. Williams then turns his attention to business management. Readers will learn what costs should be factored into their portrait pricing strategies.
You’ll learn how to train—and treat—your employees, to brush up on your telephone skills, establish a good working relationship with suppliers, and how to delegate responsibility in order to focus on what you love most—photography. You’ll also analyze the various marketing options available and will learn how to determine which will generate the most clients in your target demographic. A chapter devoted to networking will help you build credibility with professionals and earn referrals that will help you build your business and drive profits. Finally, Williams makes the case for diversification, showing you how it can prove both highly profitable and personally satisfying.
You’ll look at the skills and business practices you need to photograph high-school seniors (including yearbook photos, sports teams, prom/school dances, etc.), weddings, and family groups. Also, you’ll get specific pointers on conducting the consultation, selecting backgrounds and props, and how to cater to the unique needs of each client subset. With a wide range of tips on every conceivable aspect of client service, well-won tips on business management, and a smattering of smart technical tips for honing your photography skills, this book will suit beginners and seasoned studio owners alike.
