Apocalypse Novelist to Visit Odessa

Houston author Byron C. Justice will host a book signing for the novel "Violent Night" at the Hastings bookstore, 3897 E. 42nd St., in Odessa, TX from 7-9 p.m. Leonard Ramblin, a fictional character in the book, was based on Justice's experiences living in nearby Midland.

September 21, 2006. Patrons may enter a drawing at the event for a chance to win a “Violent Night” T-shirt. The signing is part of Justice’s West Texas tour coinciding with the West Texas Book & Music Festival in Abilene, September 23.

Completed in the months before Hurricane Rita sideswiped Houston, Violent Night follows 7 teens as they survive both a psychopathic nemesis and an the assault of a Category 5 hurricane. The Day of Reckoning grants the youths new lives on The Other Side, but leaves their youngest member behind in a dystopian Forsaken World where evil has the upper hand. Lightning is a gateway between worlds, allowing evil a chance to make the jump.

A fictional character in the novel, Leonard Ramblin, was based on Justice’s experiences during the time he lived in nearby Midland, from 1970-1974.
