Stonewall Kitchen, the award-winning specialty food manufacturer and retailer based in York, Maine, is one of the top distributors of Burleigh Ware ironstone in the United States. Burgess, Dorling & Leigh is one of the last remaining factories in the world using the process known as “transferring” to create ironstone pieces decorated with patterns developed and preserved through centuries. The company’s exclusive cobalt blue motifs are recognized all over the world as “Burleigh.”
When Stonewall Kitchen owners Jonathan King and Jim Stott first visited the Burleigh factory in Stoke-on-Trent, England in 2001, they were enthralled with the beauty, craftsmanship and classic appeal of these highly collectible pieces. They learned that the transferware created at Burleigh is crafted using a centuries-old process perfected through generations of craftsmen. This incredibly labor-intensive process creates pieces of high quality and durability that make them heirlooms. Burleigh’s rich history, dedication to excellence, commitment to service and overall superiority make them a natural fit with Stonewall Kitchen’s exclusive brand.
