Chandler Arizona Photographer Believes Family Portraits Can Offer Hope to Needy Children
As the weather in Arizona cools, the activity for Crescendo Photography of Chandler heats up. During the month of October Crescendo Photography, a member of the Professional Photographers of America, is participating in National Family Portrait Month. This fund-raising effort sponsored by Professional Photographers of America Charities benefits Operation Smile, a non-profit charity which treats children suffering with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.
(PRWEB) September 15, 2006 -- Last year, Chandler-based photographer Marnie McCown-Guard contributed 10% of all portrait sales from October 2005 to Operation Smile. This year promises to be an ever bigger success.
“I am really excited about once again participating in Operation Smile”, says Marnie McCown-Guard, owner of Crescendo Photography. “This year we are expanding Family Portrait Month to include more than just family portraits. Qualifying sessions include children, newborn, maternity, headshots, pet and engagement portraits. That way, we can donate a larger amount to Operation Smile. Each year Operation Smile, an organization of thousands of volunteer surgeons, dentists, and specialized health-care professionals, performs reconstructive surgeries on as many needy children as funding permits. Through fund-raising efforts and participation of medical volunteers, Operation Smile is able to perform a typical operation for just $240. More than 100,000 children are born with facial deformities each year. In the 23 countries where Operation Smile is present more than 90,000 children have received life changing surgery. Ann Monteith, PPA president states, “When families participate in Family Portrait Month, they are making it possible to truly change the lives of children who would otherwise face a lifetime of pain and rejection.”
