Intradeco Apparel, with headquarters in Miami, has recently added Baxter International, a major supplier of basic and fashion denim and casual bottoms to the midtier and mass market, to its families of subsidiaries.
Baxter International manufactures knit tops using its patented V-Tec process, resulting in a unique vintage appearance with a silky and soft hand. Distressed or heavily washed looks are becoming increasingly important in retail and historically this look has been attempted through pigment garment dying, resulting in varying degrees of success and less than satisfactory controls in the production process.
The V-Tec process transformed the industry, as it achieves a vintage and washed down look employing jet equipment for dying knit fabric instead of employing garment dying processes. With the use of jet equipment in the fabric stage of color, consistency is significantly controlled between dye lots and the process is suitable for all types of textiles, including light-weight fabric, without causing any degradation of the material.
Besides the added advantages of improved production and quality controls, V-Tec is also environmentally friendly, as it contains no heavy metals and uses a reduced amount of water. The process is also formaldehyde free, which is important when manufacturing children’s apparel as well as maternity, men’s and ladies’ apparel.
Intradeco Apparel is part of the Siman Group, a wholly-owned family business founded in 1921, and is a major supplier of textiles and apparel to retailers in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Other subsidiaries of Intradeco Apparel include Wright’s, Fivey’s and Selected Trading, also based in Miami. Its textile manufacturing plant is en El Salvador.
