National Security Versus Freedom According to ChristiaNet Poll

National Security versus freedom are difficult to balance with the rise of terrorism according to a ChristiaNet poll.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) September 16, 2006 -- ChristiaNet.com (http://www.christianet.com), the world's largest Christian portal with twelve million monthly page loads, provided readers an opportunity to participate in a poll based upon National Security vs. Freedom. The war on terrorism has brought about emotional responses from participants and rightly so. Christians must think about the many privileges we have in this country especially concerning freedom to worship and realize that many other citizens of other countries do not have this precious right. The poll revealed that many people agree that it is necessary at times to fight for privileges we all have. One voter commented, "I think we all have to do what is best for the country and its people." (http://christianblogs.christianet.com/)

Eighty-seven participants out of 266, agree that National Security is worth giving up some of the privileges that we all share so that the American people can live in safety. Since the crackdown of security with the airlines there has been flight delays and increased congestion at the airports. One voter shared, "I am not saying I would love it if I couldn't take water, a spritz spray to cool me down on long flights, a snack and book, but if it was a matter of safety I would do it."

There are 95 participants who feel that the American people have already given up too many rights. One participant states, "In my opinion giving up certain freedoms for security might mean compromising my Christian values." Another person conceded that giving up an item in a suitcase is fine but giving up one's faith to worship is not. In other words it seems by the results of the poll that there is a place to draw the line when it comes to giving up privileges for National Security.

Eighty-four people responded that they were "unsure" and the consensus of most of the participants is that it really depends on the type and extent of which rights are given up. Christians should not be complacent even though we know that God is in control. Even scripture tells us that we need to show our faith through works. Many respondents were very adamant that we should stand up for our rights when threatened. For more information, visit: http://www.christianet.com/bible/
