Hilger, renowned poker author and creator of InternetTexasHoldem.com, cashed in four poker events and won over $48,000 this year in Las Vegas for the WSOP. Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 18, 2006 -- Building off the momentum of the previous two years, Matthew Hilger, renowned poker author and InternetTexasHoldem.com (http://www.internettexasholdem.com) creator, made quite a splash once again this year at the 2006 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nev. In what was a banner year for the WSOP – 8,773 players competed in the Main Event – Hilger set a personal World Series record of his own by cashing in four total events.

In 2004, Hilger broke on to the WSOP scene by finishing 33rd in the Texas Holdem Main Event and taking home 80K in prize winnings. One year later -- in 2005 -- Hilger played in nine events and cashed in three of them, proving his versatility by cashing in a Limit, No-Limit and Pot-Limit Holdem event.

He matched that feat this year, and added an additional No-Limit cash in Event 44: $1,500. Additionally, Hilger reached the final table of Event 44 before eventually finishing eighth. He set the tone early on in this year’s WSOP, finishing 14th in Event 3 ($1,500 Pot-Limit Holdem) back in late June, and taking home over 21K. For his cumulative 2006 WSOP efforts, Hilger collected an impressive four cashes, good for over 48K in prize winnings. All told, Hilger has cashed in eight WSOP events in the last three years, and he is one of only 63 players in the world to have cashed in at least seven total events the past two years!

Hilger is also responsible for two wildly popular poker books: “Internet Texas Hold’em” (2003) and “Texas Hold’em Odds and Probabilities” (2006). He is currently in the process of co-authoring a third book -- “The Poker Mindset” -- with friend and fellow poker player Ian Taylor.

Congratulations, Matthew, on yet another thrilling and successful World Series of Poker!
