Upcoming Fundraiser to benefit Spinal Cord Injury Research and the Christopher Reeve Foundation.
Corona, CA – 21st, 2006. The event is being held to raise money to benefit the Christopher Reeve Foundation and to raise awareness of finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.
Corona, CA (PRWEB) September 17, 2006 -- The Ricky James Golf Tournament will be held on September 21st, 2006. The event is being held to raise money to benefit the Christopher Reeve Foundation and to raise awareness of finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.
The spinal cord injury of Ricky James, a young upcoming amateur motocross racer that left the 18 yr. old paralyzed on March 10th 2005 when he was just 16 years old, motivated the James family to create this fundraising event. Last year was the first year of the event and over $70,000.00 was raised.
“We have a special relationship with the Christopher Reeve Foundation”, explains Rick James, father of Ricky. “They are in a unique position to identify some of the most important and relevant areas of spinal cord research. They are also set up to distribute the funds in a judicial and efficient manner.”
The tournament is scheduled for September 21st, 2006 and will be held at the Trilogy Golf Club at Glen Ivy in Corona, Ca. and is open to anyone who wants to participate or contribute to the Foundation. The tournament has many different sponsorship levels and is expected to raise over $120,000.00 this year.
“Since the passing of our founders, Christopher and Dana Reeve, we have been emboldened by the outreach of the community. The James Family leadership on this event will bring us closer to Chris and Dana’s vision of finding a cure for paralysis” Quoted Peter Wilderotter Vice President of Development at the Christopher Reeve Foundation.
Sponsorship levels for the tournament range from $300.00 to Titanium Corporate sponsorship level of $10,000.00. “We wanted to have a way for almost anyone to participate.” says James.
