Rush Tracking Systems to integrate Symbol’s RD5000 Mobile RFID Reader Into Aerospace Manufacturers Production Facility

Rush Tracking Systems to integrate Symbol’s RD5000 Mobile RFID Reader Into Aerospace Manufacturers Production Facility.

Lenexa, KS (PRWEB) September 20, 2006 -- Rush Tracking Systems, an RFID systems integrator that specializes in identifying and implementing RFID solutions, has integrated the new Symbol RD5000 Mobile RFID Readers into applications for the Aerospace and Defense industries.

Over the last two years, Rush engineers have worked with a leading aerospace manufacturer which designs, constructs, and services a diverse line of structures, fuselages, and propulsion devices. Striving for improved quality and efficiency, this firm has implemented RFID to improve visibility of Work-In-Progress (WIP) parts and finished goods inventories. The current RFID system deployed by Rush consists of over 125 readers and has up to 30,000 tagged parts in process at any given time.

Rush is now expanding this infrastructure to the mobile edge by deploying their first wireless mobile RFID reader on material movement vehicles. By mounting the Symbol RD5000 RFID reader to the material movement vehicles, Rush has enabled the automated data capture of the physical location and exact time that a specific component was loaded or unloaded. This organization can now decrease manual data entry while increasing the accuracy of WIP movement. In addition, the business can completely eliminate the need for handheld PDA data collection devices for their drivers.

“Once again, our team is delivering first class enterprise solutions which leverage the latest in RFID technology. We are excited to work closely with Symbol on the new RD5000 Mobile RFID reader and expect wide adoption of this next generation platform,” said Toby Rush, President and CEO of Rush Tracking Systems.

Rush Tracking Systems’ applications enable hands-free material movement and work-in-process transactions that enable businesses to work more efficiently and accurately because they no longer have to manually scan products as they are loaded or unloaded onto vehicles. The new RFID application can save up to three seconds per move transaction. With 800 transactions per vehicle per day and with 12 vehicles working, this results in eight labor hours per day saved. Other savings are being drawn from reducing search times for lost parts and inventory accuracy.

The Symbol RD5000 mobile reader is a self-contained, cable-free mobile RFID reader that can be installed on a wide range of mobile material handling equipment. The RD5000 is designed for rugged use, real-time wireless LAN connectivity, and platform consistency with the industry-leading MC9000 handheld reader

“Organizations leveraging the combination of Symbol’s new RD5000 Mobile RFID reader and Rush Tracking Systems’ ROI-driven applications will be able to pinpoint an item’s location, continuously update inventory data, and enable new levels of efficiency,” said Phil Lazo, Symbol vice president and general manager of Symbol’s RFID Division.
