The celebrated Ocean Key Resort & Spa in Key West has announced the 1st Annual O.K. Bayou Music Fest, November 23 – 26, 2006 with New Orleans headliner, Big Sam’s Funky Nation. The celebration-filled long weekend will support the Tipitina’s Foundation, dedicated to helping artists recover from Hurricane Katrina and preserving the cultural traditions of New Orleans.
Key West, FL (PRWEB) September 19, 2006 -- The celebrated Ocean Key Resort & Spa in Key West has announced the 1st Annual O.K. Bayou Music Fest, November 23 – 26, 2006 with New Orleans headliner, Big Sam’s Funky Nation. The celebration-filled long weekend will support the Tipitina’s Foundation, dedicated to helping artists recover from Hurricane Katrina and preserving the cultural traditions of New Orleans.
The performances are free to the public and take place on Ocean Key Resort’s Sunset Pier. In addition to donating the net profits from the commemorative T-Shirt sales, Ocean Key Resort’s Sunset Pier will feature drink specials including the Tormente Tropical (Tropical Storm – Key West’s version of New Orlean’s famous Hurricane) cocktail with a special donation to the Tipitina’s Foundation. The Tipitina’s Foundation will also have a donation center at the Pier where festival goers can make a monetary contribution during the weekend.
“It is appropriate that we designate Thanksgiving weekend as a tribute to the music culture of New Orleans,” states Steven Boswell, general manager. “We are thankful that Key West has been able to recover from the active storm seasons of late and we are thankful that we are in a position to help these talented people rebuild their lives.”
Big Sam’s Funky Nation is the event headliner, appearing at the Sunset Pier on November 23rd, 24th and 25th at 4:15 pm and 6 pm.. Local Key West musicians will also perform New Orleans tributes on the Sunset Pier, throughout the weekend.
