Dantel Announces Successful Testing of its Disaster Resistant Event Network

Company successfully tests remote monitoring solution with the largest agricultural water district in the US.

(PRWEB) September 19, 2006 -- Dantel, Inc., the leader in network surveillance and management systems, today announced that it has successfully tested the reliability of it’s Disaster Resistant Event Network (DREN) on two sites at the Westlands Water District, the largest agricultural water district in the United States that encompasses more than 600,000 acres of farmland in western Fresno and Kings counties.

“We are pleased that the Westlands Water District gave us an opportunity to install and test our DREN application,” said Alan Hutcheson, president and CEO of Dantel. “Two sites were selected for the trials. One system is currently providing a visual verification of the upstream/downstream water level at a remote canal site and the other is providing visual verification of the water level in a remote water tank.”

The water tank application, the more challenging of the two, consisted of a solar powered DREN node communicating data and video via a secure RF link to the canal site over 1.5 miles away. Visual verification of both sites is managed through the web browser feature of the WebMon Edge which is the “brains” of the DREN with its embedded cognitive software.

“In a test pilot project this year, Dantel installed their system to work in conjunction with our SCADA system” said Al Sierras, supervisor of the electrical maintenance department of Westlands Water District. “With more than 600,000 acres of farmland, the drive time to remote locations can be considerable. The ability to visually verify a remote site from the office or from a technician’s home can save an enormous amount of time and expense. Both systems have performed reliably through our rainy season and through temperatures ranging from 29F to 114F.”

About the DREN
The DREN is a scalable, integrated monitoring and communications platform designed to provide a flexible and cost effective means of delivering critical event data from remote or otherwise inaccessible locations. DREN technology provides high speed data transfer over TCP/IP networks from remote sites, without external power of fixed communication links. In addition the DREN monitors facilities and equipment status, via standard secure protocol, on-site, off-site and on the go. The DREN incorporates various sensory, video, solar and wireless WAN technology. The DREN, with Dantel’s WebMon Edge and DREN soft embedded cognitive software at its heart monitors, controls and protects critical infrastructure.
