Pioneer Introduces Limited Edition High Definition Plasma TV

With the launch of Australia’s first 50” 1080p plasma screen in August 2006, Pioneer Electronics invites consumers to immerse themselves in a new dimension of high-definition television.

(PRWEB) September 20, 2006 -- With the launch of Australia's first 50" 1080p plasma screen in August 2006, Pioneer Electronics invites consumers to immerse themselves in a new dimension of high-definition television.

Perfectly matched with Blu-ray, the Pioneer PDP-5000EX plasma embraces the high-definition revolution and a capacity for displaying the entire range of signals, including 720p, 1080i and 1080p, as well as, it's backed by a Pioneer five-year warranty.

Behind the awe inspiring image of Pioneer's PDP-5000EX plasma is the technology that creates a 1080p native resolution with more than 2 million individual pixels.

The PDP-5000EX combines the higher pixel count of 1080 interlace with the smooth refresh rate of 720 progressive, allowing for a more accurate picture quality. These benefits are evident when viewing fast-moving content like action films or sports with the ability to reproduce accurate picture quality for which Pioneer is known.

"Our new 1080p plasma is a milestone achievement that represents Pioneer's relentless pursuit of excellence. Achieving a 1080p native resolution has been a goal since Pioneer began plasma R&D in 1991. The proprietary technologies developed since that time now enable us to achieve the engineering feat of doubling the pixel density and resolution in a 50" plasma monitor," said Lachlan Fennen, video product manager for the home entertainment group at Pioneer Electronics Australia.

In addition to displaying 1080p signals, the PDP-5000EX can up convert all other sources further improving HD image detail, colour accuracy and fast moving image clarity.

This Pioneer 1080p plasma will accept many sources, including standard-definition (SD) signals and DVD, as well as high-definition sources like 720p, 1080i, Blu-ray (1080p), and will automatically smart convert it to deliver the highest resolution picture possible. Moreover, the PDP-5000EX also features a HDMI terminal.

Customer Service

Consumers don't have to fret about the daunting task of transporting and setting-up the PDP-5000EX at home. Delivery and installation of Pioneer's 1080p is free. However, the after-sales service does not stop there.

Professional in-home calibration

Pioneer has teamed with Avical Australia (renowned industry leaders in Display Calibration) to optimise the performance of Pioneer 1080p Plasma displays. In the past, this level of calibration was only available for Pioneer's professional plasma displays. However for the first time, Pioneer will offer calibration for consumer at home with a 1080p plasma.

After the PDP-5000EX is installed into a consumers home, Pioneer will send an ISF certified display calibration engineer to customer's home, to tailor a cinema standard calibration. The calibration combined with the Pioneer Plasma 1080p will improve performance to create a life-like, natural and three dimensional visual.

Pioneer proprietary technology that makes 1080p possible includes:-

Deep Encased Cell Structure makes each cell deeper to increase overall phosphor area for a brighter image. By casing each cell with horizontal ribs, Pioneer diminishes light leakage from neighbouring cells for sharper, more accurate images.

A new T-shaped electrode prevents misfiring of individual cells despite the fact that each individual cell is half the size of previous generations, enabling Pioneer to maintain its sharp, bright accurate images when reproducing at a native 1080p resolution.

The Pure Crystal Emissive Layer sandwiched between the plasma glass and the individual light cells conducts energy more efficiently so each cell is charged and discharged at a faster rate, improving contrast and brightness while using less energy.

Swift charge and discharge of individual pixels results in an extremely smooth transition from colour to black for blacker blacks and increased detail in dark scenes.

High Quality Up Conversion to 1080p minimises interlacing motion artefacts of 1080i and increases the resolution of a 720p signal.

New Pure Drive II Signal Processing delivers low noise, high contrast and natural colour images. The High Precision Video Scaler receives and displays 1080p HD native resolution.

The First Surface Pure Colour Filter reduces ambient light reflection and heightens colour reproduction through the elimination of an extra layer of glass for sharper, crisper and more vivid images.

Enhanced ISF C3 capability allows a certified calibrator to perform advanced colour calibration with never-before-achieved simplicity, accuracy and reliability. It includes a detailed gamma selection with eight steps.

Terminals on the monitor include Digital HDMI, DVI (HDCP), component and composite inputs.

An optional tabletop stand and wall mount bracket will be available.

The 5000EX is a limited-edition run of a highly specialised product that is best suited to being sold through specialist retailers. Please call the Pioneer Sales support line on 1800 060 852 to find the nearest store near you.
