The Edison Innovation Foundation, Newark, NJ, has developed a partnership with Nightstand Creations, Inc. whose president, Randy Rossilli, Jr. is a Newark native and lifelong fan of Thomas Edison. The partnership will be developing multiple properties under the Young Thomas Edison name.

George Keegan of the Edison Innovation Foundation and co-creator of the property said, “We are excited about developing a new educational and entertaining program that inspires children to think inventively and families to be creative.”

The Adventures of Young Thomas Edison, features a multi-medium approach to inspiring creative and innovative thinking through the use of puppets, animation, live-action documentary, and music. It is also a mission of the property to make connections between Edison’s inventions and the modern world. Episodes connecting the electric pen to modern copy machines, and the phonograph to modern MP3 players are already in production.

Thomas Edison, the world’s greatest inventor, surrounded himself with intelligent people and talented craftsmen who he called his “Muckers.” The Adventures of Young Thomas Edison features Thomas and his group of “Young Muckers.”

Rossilli said, “To say I am excited about this program would be the understatement of my life. To introduce one of my heroes to a new generation is a thrill and an honor. We are designing this program to inspire innovative thinking and imagination – bringing out the Edison in all of us.”

Completion of the first two pilot episodes, children’s books and an inventor’s handbook is set for January, 2007. Target age for the series is children grades K-4, although the producers believe that there will be a wider viewership as a result of the unique way the content is being produced.
