In an Ever-Changing Job Search Environment, Newbies and Veterans Depend on Each Other

Kim Mohiuddin, longtime San Diego resident, returned home on Monday to announce the launch of her virtual career services company Movin’ On Up Résumés. Mohiuddin was in Phoenix last week attending the National Résumé Writers’ Association 9th Annual Career Conference where she received advanced training in topics such as global job searches, successfully marketing baby boomers to employers, the latest trends in electronic and keyword résumés and providing outplacement services for downsizing companies.

“I have been writing résumés for selected clients for some time, but I didn’t want to launch the business until I could be certain of providing the highest level of services. Meeting the seventy talented professionals at the conference and knowing I had access to their hundreds of years of collective experience left me with full confidence that I could do right by anybody who hired me,” Mohiuddin said.

In addition to networking with colleagues and catching up on the latest industry trends, Mohiuddin had a front-row seat as a panel of human resource managers and executive recruiters answered questions and discussed their hiring practices and résumé preferences.

“Because of my own background as a hiring manager in transportation sales, I know how important it is to understand what is happening on the decision-maker’s side of the desk,” said Mohiuddin. “One of the things that I took away from this panel was that a résumé directed towards an outside recruiter, who is really a liaison between the candidate and the hiring entity, is a somewhat different beast from a résumé that is headed straight for the human resources department and must speak entirely for itself.”

Because of factors like globalization and changing technology, the career services industry is evolving at a staggering pace. Many job seekers are turning to professionals for help with their search and professionals are increasingly relying on each other for support. Professional organizations are a key factor in facilitating that camaraderie. Appropriately, the theme of this year’s NRWA conference was Cooperation, Not Competition. Said Mohiuddin, “The reason I’m so passionate about what I do is that I have seen too many poor or just lackluster résumés from otherwise qualified candidates, people who are good at what they do and deserve a great job. I know my clients will be well served by the information and connections I gained this week.”

Kim Mohiuddin has worked in career services for five years and also has experience in copy writing for websites, training manuals and sales materials. Movin’ On Up Résumés serves job seekers twenty-four hours a day from the worldwide web. For more information or to contact Kim Mohiuddin visit, email or call 877-Movin Up (877-668-4687).
