Horse Sense Online Auction Offers Local Art, Antiques and a Broad Range of Services from the Local Community

An online auction created by Horse Sense of the Carolinas, Inc. features local artists and businesses in Western North Carolina. Funds raised through this online auction will help bring affordable Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning services to troubled teens and families in crisis.

Asheville, North Carolina (PRWEB) September 21, 2006 -- On September 4, 2006 Horse Sense of the Carolinas, Inc. kicked off an online auction to raise money for the Horse Sense/Mountin’ Hopes Scholarship Fund. The scholarships will bring equine facilitated psychotherapy services to children and families in need. The auction can be accessed by visiting http://www.HorseSenseOtc.com and runs through October 14, 2006. Available items include everything from art and landscaping to gift certificates and services from a variety of local companies.

The online auction currently features a single week condo rental at Beaver Creek Resort, a horseback ride with lunch at the Biltmore Estate and art by local Western North Carolina artists such as Rachel Childress, Mista Whitson and Cherokee basket weaver, Mary Jo Taylor. Auction participants can also bid on gift certificates from a variety of local businesses including Colorful Palate Catering, Salsa’s and Sensibilities. Bidders can also find items ranging from marketing services to antique collectibles to salon treatments or massage.

Scholarship money raised by the online auction will create multi-week programs for at-risk youth, full-day therapy groups for victims of violence and intensive therapy for high-risk youth and their families. The goal is to raise $25,000 for the Scholarship Fund and enable Horse Sense to offer services for over one hundred people in the Western North Carolina community.

Horse Sense is an Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) center specializing in counseling sessions, workshops and trainings that do not involve riding. Horse Sense is located on a 90-acre farm in Marshall, North Carolina. Horse Sense offers free demonstrations to those interested in learning more about Equine Assisted Therapy and Learning and also provides workshops for men, women and children interested in becoming EAP or EAL professionals. To visit the online auction website visit http://www.HorseSenseOtc.com and click on the AUCTION link.
